Charlotte’s Soof Lift Blepharoplasty surgeons explain what to know about the procedure

Charlotte’s Soof Lift Blepharoplasty can help patients foster a revitalized, youthful appearance

Charlotte’s Soof Lift Blepharoplasty surgeons have discovered that many individuals have been asked at some point if they were tired or stressed based on their outlook. Swollen bags, wrinkles, excess skin, and discoloration around and under the eyes are some of the issues that come with aging. The eyelids can also exhibit signs of drooping, making the eyes look unnaturally wide. While this is an inevitable part of aging, a SOOF lift can give you back a younger, appealing appearance.

Causes of under-eye bags and droopy eyelids

Loss of elasticity and volume affects the face’s structure as we age. This causes a decreased tone in the face and sagging, which is especially true for the eyelids, mouth, chin, and neck. These effects are often alarming to most. While some choose solutions like at-home devices, creams, or non-invasive treatments, they can’t offer adequate correction like the safe and effective SOOF lift. After complete healing, patients will notice the skin under and around their eyes look smoother, revitalized, and aesthetically pleasing.

What is a SOOF lift?

SOOF is an acronym for sub-orbicularis oculi fat lift. The fat is situated under the eyes, with its displacement being responsible for bags that may come off as puffiness, dark circles, loose skin, sagging lower eyelids, and wrinkles.

The performance of a SOOF lift

It can be done at the same time as lower blepharoplasty. Once the lower eyelid and surrounding area are numbed with a local anesthetic injection, the plastic surgeon approaches the sub-orbicularis oculi fat lift through an eyelid incision at the eyelid’s front or back. The SOOF is situated at the upper cheek and under the orbicularis oculus muscle. The fat collection is then mobilized and elevated to a higher position featuring anchoring sutures, which are either attached to the bone lining or periosteum at the orbital rim, permanent or absorbable.

Follow-up

You can expect significant swelling and/or bruising 1 to 2 weeks after the procedure. The final result may be reached after many more months.

SOOF lift risks

The same risks of traditional blepharoplasty apply. These include infection, bleeding, ectropion (pulling down of the lower eyelid), contour irregularities, asymmetry, dry eye, and hollowing recurrence.

Choosing the right surgeon

A few plastic and cosmetic surgeons are skilled and knowledgeable in performing the SOOF lift procedure. Therefore, a patient should conduct thorough research before deciding on the surgeon that will perform the surgery. 5 days post-procedure, patients need to have the stitches removed by the surgeon and will use a lubricating ointment to prevent the eyes from drying out. Bandages can also be applied to the affected area for a few days until thorough healing has occurred. It promotes healing and prevents infection from setting in around the incisions.
