Q. What types of lasers does Dr. Freeman use and what do they treat?
Lasers help reduce facial wrinkles and scarring, and they enhance the appearance of the sun-damaged skin. Lasers also can be used to remove tattoos and treat brown discoloration of the skin due to secondary excess sun exposure. Lasers are also used to treat visible broken blood vessels , rosacea, hemangiomas and vascular malformations.

Dr. Freeman has years of experience using lasers to improve conditions that involve the skin. He was one of the first physicians in the country to use lasers extensively for cosmetic reasons. Due to his reputation and publications in this area, he was asked to teach plastic surgeons in Beijing, China how to perform laser resurfacing. He continues to be a leader in this area, using his experience to help children with vascular birthmarks.

Q. When I have my laser procedure to improve my skin, how soon can I wear make-up and go outside in the sun?
There are different types of laser procedures.

Laser skin rejuvenation is used to improve the small broken blood vessels and brown spots that develop over time. After laser skin rejuvenation, you will experience skin irritation for about 3 to 5 days. After the first day, the vast majority of patients can wear make-up and go in the sun with appropriate protection.

Laser resurfacing is used when the patient wishes to see improvement in the fine lines that go along with aging. After laser resurfacing, it will take about 10 to 12 days for patients to heal to the point where they can wear make-up and go in the sun with appropriate sun protection.

SmoothBeam™ Laser therapy is for fine lines, wrinkles and mild scars. Treatment is done once a month to slowly rebuild collagen that has been lost under the skin over time. Each treatment leaves the skin slightly red for less than 30 minutes in the average patient.

Q. Will I have “before” and “after” pictures taken?
Yes. “Before” and “after” pictures are taken of all of our cosmetic patients so that we may provide you with complimentary copies. No “before” and “after” pictures will be published without your written consent for marketing purposes.
