Revision rhinoplasty in Charlotte

Revision rhinoplasty surgeons

Of all the surgeons who perform Charlotte nose jobs, the most skilled are probably those that perform revision rhinoplasty. This is more complicated than regular rhinoplasty because the tissues are still likely to be fragile.

About nine out of ten of the people who undergo rhinoplasty are happy with the results, and only about one in thirty needs to be fixed. But if something does go wrong, it’s a personal disaster. First, you have to wait weeks or months for the swelling to go down, and then after all that, you find your nose looking as bad or worse than it did before. And the nose is right in the middle of your face, where anything wrong with it draws immediate attention to itself.

Planning your revision rhinoplasty

It’s actually surprising that rhinoplast is almost always successful, considering how much can go wrong during a nose job. Sometimes an inexperienced surgeon miscalculates the thickness of a patient’s nasal skin, or the strength of the cartilage underneath. Sometimes something went wrong during recovery, like an accident or a case of the flu. Sometimes the patient simply asked for the wrong sort of nose for his or her face and the surgeon never tried to talk him or her out of it.

The bad news is that the nose isn’t ready for a revision rhinoplast until at least a year after the original surgery. To make sure everything goes right this time, find a surgeon who does a lot of revision rhinoplasty and has a good reputation. During recovery, take your pain medication and antibiotics, drink plenty of fluids and get lots of sleep,. While you sleep, keep your head elevated while you sleep to reduce swelling. Try to avoid heavy exercise or bringing your nose into contact with anything — even a pullover sweater — for the next few weeks. Wash your hands often and limit social contact to avoid the risk of a cold or the flu. Don’t go out into the sun — your nose might be too numb to register a sunburn until it gets particularly bad.
