The basics of face lifts
Sooner or later, everyone shows signs of aging on their face in the form of wrinkles and loose skin — but for some people, this happens sooner than they want it to. With a face lifts, you can make yourself look as young as you feel. There are several different kinds of face lifts available in Charlotte.
The deep plane facelift
In a deep place face lift, incisions are made along the hairline from your ear to your temples. The surgeon then repositions the skin and the deeper tissues of the face. The surgeon will also make an incision under the chin to adjust the fatty tissues in the neck area. In some cases, shaving the backs of the submandibular glands (two of the salivary glands) will improve the appearance of the patient. A surgeon can let you know if this procedure is appropriate for your particular case.
You should be able to return to normal activity 10 to 14 days after this surgery when the swelling has gone down, but it may be several weeks before your face looks the way you want it to. When choosing a surgeon to perform this or any other procedure, look for one who has an extensive gallery of before and after photos of previous clients.
The deep plane minituck
In a deep place minituck, the same sort of incisions is made along the hairline as in a deep place face lift. The minituck is a better procedure in cases where there is loose skin around the midface, neck and near the mouth, with less fat around the jowls. The muscles and connective tissue of the face and the deposits of fatty tissue under the skin of the cheeks are lifted to create a naturally youthful look that will last a long time. Although it is always a good idea to try to understand any medical procedure you plan to undergo, it takes a highly experienced facial plastic surgeon to look at your face and determine which kind of face lift is right for you.
