Eye lid surgery in Charlotte, NC make you look better, younger

Eyelid surgery will make you look younger

Eye lid surgery can really help your look. If you’re in your late forties or fifties and trying to make yourself look younger, getting an eye lift really works. A survey this year found that people who had blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, done came out on average looking more attractive, more energetic, and slightly younger than people who didn’t. This makes a certain amount of sense — the eyes are the part of the face we focus most on, and even a small change to the eyelids can have a much larger effect than a change to a different part of the face.

There are medical reasons why someone might need eye lid surgery. Heavy eyelids and weakening of the eyelid muscles may make it difficult to see properly if you can’t quite open your eyes all the way. The good news is that if you need eye lid surgery for medical reasons, you might be able to get it partly paid for through insurance or Medicaid.

Different surgeons perform eye lifts in different ways. Some use local anesthesia. Others use general anesthesia. All use sutures thinner than eyelashes, and carefully measure how much skin to remove so that your eyelids look younger but still fully protect your eyes.

How to get ready for an eye lift

First, you should make sure an eye lift is right for you medically. You should have well-recessed eyes, and should not have any of the following medical conditions:

  • Blurry vision.
  • Dry eye.
  • Double vision.
  • Diabetes.
  • Thyroid problems.

As is usually the case with cosmetic surgery, if you smoke, you should stop well before the operation. You should also stay away from alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, anti-inflammatory drugs or certain herbal supplements. Be sure to inform your surgeon as soon as possible on about any other medications you take, and follow his or her advice on taking them during the recovery.

There’s going to be some bruising and swelling for several days after an eyelift. You might also experience some itchiness and dryness. Rest your eyes by listening to the radio or having music or books on tape handy. Around five days after the surgery, the stitches should dissolve or be taken out.
