Overview
Eye lift surgery, technically referred to as upper lid blepharoplasty, provides patients with smooth eye lids and a youthful appearance. Your Charlotte, NC cosmetic surgeon specializes in eye lifts, along with the associated procedures, like brow lifts, laser resurfacing, injectables, and lower lid blepharoplasty.
Consultation
Before your surgery, you will need to meet with your surgeon for a consultation to assess any outstanding medical problems to the eyes, like blurry vision, diabetes, thyroid problems, double vision, or dry eye. These will require review before you can move forward with the procedure.
Procedure and Recovery
An incision is made under the upper eyelid’s natural fold, through which excess skin, muscle, and fat are removed. This incision is hidden by the natural contour of the upper eyelid, and heals well. During recovery, your eyes may feel itchy or dry. Any permanent stitches will be removed within 3 to 5 days, and self-absorbing stitches will dissolve. Most swelling lasts up to 7 days, though some patients experience swelling for several weeks following surgery. Bruising typically lasts 7 to 10 days, which can be hidden using makeup.
Additional Procedures
There are a number of procedures that can be done to enhance the effects of your eye lift. Your Charlotte cosmetic surgeon also offers brow lifts, laser resurfacing, injectables, and lower lid blepharoplasty. Brow lifts correct the drooping look that brows can take on as you age, and can be used as an alternative to an upper eye lid lift. An endoscopic brow lift is best for adults who have a naturally low brow, or who have deep wrinkles or frown lines due to age, stress, or muscle activity. During the procedure, an endoscope, which is a thin tube attached to a small video camera, is inserted through tiny incisions in the scalp. Laser resurfacing addresses the dark pigmentation under the eyes. Injectables are a great way to diminish crow’s feet, frown lines, and other wrinkles and lines in the face. Lower lid blepharoplasty addresses the sinking below the eye. More technically called the transconjunctival SOOF lift, this procedure provides a rejuvenated lower lid without a noticeable incision. The midface is lifted towards the lower lid, diminishing the hollowed-out look that can come from aging.
