Can Charlotte, NC eyelid surgery really make me look young?

Eyelid surgery found to make you look younger

A survey earlier this year found that people who underwent blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, appeared on average to be more attractive, more energetic, and slightly younger than people who did not. The eyes are the part of the face we focus most on, and a slight change to the eyelids can have a much larger effect than a change to another part of the face.

Different surgeons perform eyelid surgery in different ways. Some use local anesthesia, while others use general anesthesia. All use sutures thinner than eyelashes, and precisely measure how much skin to remove so that your eyelids will look younger but will still provide your eyes with complete protection.

The preparation

First, undergo a checkup, including having your eyes checked, to make sure you do not have any medical conditions that would make eyelid surgery a bad idea. Your surgeon may ask you to take some medications. If you already take medications, be sure to tell your surgeon about them and follow his or her advice on whether or not to take them before surgery. Stop smoking and drinking for at least two weeks before the surgery.

You also need to prepare your house for surgery. Go through your house and put everything you need on a regular basis where you can easily reach it. Do all your household chores now. If you have children or pets, arrange for them to be looked after for a few days. Buy some frozen meals, or prepare some meals and put them away for reheating.

Recovering from eyelid surgery

For the first week after surgery, you should try not to read anything, watch TV or movies or spend too much time on the computer. If you need entertainment (which you probably will, being home all this time and should not be drinking right now) try music and audiobooks. If you must go outside on a sunny day, wear sunglasses. There will be bruising and itching for several days after the surgery, and your eyes may also feel dry and itchy.
