A SOOF lift blepharoplasty helps improve the appearance of your face.

A SOOF lift blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure to improve your appearance

As we age, our skin under the lower lids thins and is impacted by sun damage.  Laxity in the tissues and gravity also impact this tissue, causing a prolapse of the fatty tissue underneath the skin. As this condition progresses, the sags under the eyelids worsen the appearance of dark circles. SOOF lift blepharoplasty improves your face.

The primary goal of a SOOF lift with blepharoplasty is to tighten and elevate the soft tissues of the cheek.  It will also restore a youthful appearance to the lower eyelid.  Dr. M. Sean Freeman, Charlotte’s best facial plastic surgeon performs the SOOF lift blepharoplasty, a procedure he perfected to provide his patients with the best facial plastic surgery results possible.  He may use this procedure to improve hollowness between the lower eyelid and the upper cheek or to reduce the appearance of cheek bags.

During the SOOF lift blepharoplasty procedure, Dr. Freeman makes an incision inside the lower eyelid.  This is called a transconjunctival incision. The SOOF lift raises the fat pad under the eye which is at the top of the cheek.   Dr. Freeman has developed a technique to tighten the structure containing the protruding orbital fat.  This returns this area to its youthful tightness and smooth appearance.  Dr. Freeman believes in providing his patients with natural results from their facial plastic surgery, so uses the midface lift with SOOF lift blepharoplasty which creates less pulling around the cheek and mouth.  This procedure lifts the cheek obliquely upward which can help restore the youthful contour to the cheek.

Deciding on blepharoplasty

Dr. Freeman often performs this procedure as part of more comprehensive facial plastic surgery, including a minituck or full face lift.  He may recommend the addition of SOOF lift to create a balanced and restful look.  The SOOF lift is appropriate for patients with depression along their lower lid.  This often happens as individual ages.  If the patient has significant orbital fat in the lower lids, without a tear trough deformity, Dr. Freeman may recommend a slightly different procedure.

Recovery from SOOF lift blepharoplasty

Dr. Freeman will perform the SOOF lift blepharoplasty at his clinic in Charlotte, NC.  He may use either general anesthesia or sedation.  Recovery from surgery will usually take between one and two weeks.  There will be swelling and bruising that may begin in the lower lids and extend to the cheek area. Your vision should be unaffected after surgery and you should be able to return to normal activities within a few days.
