Planning your nose job recovery

The key to getting a nose job in Charlotte NC and successfully managing the nose job recovery is to start preparing before the operation happens. For the weeks leading up to surgery, stop smoking and drinking and do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E or certain herbal supplements. You are going to be unconscious for the procedure and will not be able to drive home afterward, so get someone to drive you or call a taxi.

The first two to three days afterward are the hardest to go through. If you take your pain medication and antibiotics, and follow the advice of your surgeon on cold packs, the pain should be manageable. Be sure to get enough to eat, and drink plenty of fluids. Get a lot of sleep, keeping your head elevated to reduce swelling. Use a neck pillow if you need one.

For the next couple of weeks, avoid pullover sweaters and other garments that might brush against your nose as you dress. Take your temperature often to check for fever — this would be a sign of infection. Avoid alcohol for the next few weeks, and if you are a smoker, do not start again until the swelling has gone down. Be sure to go to all post-operative appointments.

Be careful not to do anything that might raise the blood pressure in your head, such as bending over, doing exercises or heavy lifting. If you find yourself worrying about how the surgery turned out, wait until the swelling has gone down before you decide.
