As you age, you may find your forehead gets heavy and starts to sag
Getting a brow lift is a common request for Charlotte, NC residents. As people age, they may start to notice deep wrinkles forming on the forehead due to excess skin. This can also cause the skin to sag and leave you looking older, and feeling self conscious about your appearance. To correct this, many people decide to undergo a brow lift procedure.

To do this, the surgeon will make incisions along your scalp
When getting a brow lift, the surgeon will first determine which type of brow lift will work best for you. Full brow lifts, ¾ brow lifts, asymmetrical lifts, and lateral lifts are all options. To determine which one will give you the best results possible, the doctor looks at a variety of factors including how thick your skin is, how droopy the skin is, the position of your hairline, and if you are planning on having any other procedures in addition to the brow lift. Then, they’ll decide which brow lift will give you the results you desire.

The surgeon will then make small incisions behind your hairline. Using an endoscope, which is a long, thin tube that has a light and camera attached at the end, they will manipulate the muscles and fat to lift the forehead. This may involve removing access fat that has formed and repositioning muscles in the forehead.

Following surgery, you may experience bruising and swelling
Before getting a brow lift, you’ll want to plan for some time to recover from the procedure. This may include taking time off work and activities and even having someone come stay with you for the first few days as you recover. You should also be sure you have someone to take you after your surgery is over.

It can be alarming to see a swollen, bruised forehead after surgery when you’re expecting to see results. But, it is common for patients to see bruising and swelling, as well as experience a slight tightness in the forehead for a while as well. Typically, stitches and staples can be removed within a week. However, you may still want to be careful when brushing your hair or putting on makeup around your hairline for a while after surgery.

If you have any concerns about the recovery period after getting a brow lift, be sure to discuss them with your surgeon. They can give you tips to help you plan ahead and give you realistic expectations as to when you will be able to return to work and activities.
