Facelift procedures and what they entail

Facelift surgical procedure

Facelift surgeries, also known as rhytidectomies, are a common procedure for people that have a desire to make themselves look and feel younger. When you reach your 40’s and 50’s, the skin on your face begins to sag. This change to the face makes people appear older and because of this, they desire to do something about it. If you’re a resident of Charlotte, NC, you have the ability to get a rhytidectomy done by a revolutionary in the field.

Dr. Sean Freeman is Charlotte’s most experienced facial plastic surgeon. Dr. Freeman’s surgical techniques have led to major breakthroughs in the field, allowing his patients to gain a rejuvenated look to their face without appearing to be worked on.

Facelift surgeries provided by Dr. Freeman can happen in a variety of ways. Let’s explore each type of rhytidectomy available for you at Only Faces and why you would choose one over the other. Afterwards, we’ll explain Dr. Freeman’s approach to a rhytidectomy and why he’s Charlotte’s most trusted facial plastic surgeon.

Types of Facelifts

The first facelift procedure we’ll talk about is the deep plane minituck. Patients who have laxity in the midface, perioral (tissues around the mouth) and neck areas are prime candidates for this type of operation. The surgery involves an incision around the ear (Don’t worry, it’s extremely well-hidden!) that Dr. Freeman uses to perform a mid face lift. By doing so, Dr. Freeman will eliminate malar pad ptosis, which is the drooping of the malar fat pad found within the cheeks.

The second rhytidectomy procedure is the deep plane facelift. If you’re a patient that has a heavy neck along with a sagging midface and perioral (tissues around the mouth) area, then a deep plane rhytidectomy is what you’ll most likely undergo. The incision and changes made to the face are identical to the deep plane minituck. However, the only difference is that Dr. Freeman will add an extra incision under the chin, eliminating any unnecessary fat that is found within the neck.

The last type of facelift Dr. Freeman can do for you is the SignatureLift, a procedure that the doctor has developed through his years of experience in the field. Similar to the “weekend” face lift, Dr. Freeman’s SignatureLift is a minor rhytidectomy that is ideal for younger people or people who’ve already had work done to their face. General anesthesia is not needed in most cases and the swelling is minimal. In fact, most patients of his are able to return to work a few days after the procedure.
