Eye lifts help both women and men look younger
Eye lifts aren’t just for women any more. Increasingly, men in Charlotte, NC and elsewhere are also taking advantage of upper eyelid surgery, as well as BOTOX and other nonsurgical options, to look younger, more alert and more energetic.
Due to the cost of surgery — and the fact that this surgery, unlike rhinoplasty, does not lead to a permanent improvement — you might be tempted to try something cheaper or to go somewhere cheaper for it. But nonsurgical options don’t always work as intended, and going to other countries for cheaper surgery often ends very badly. There was a recent case in Australia — a nation with a thoroughly modern health care system — where a woman suffered long-lasting effects from what was supposed to be a nonsurgical eyelid lift. Heating the eyelids in a number of tiny spots to encourage the skin tissue to contract left spots on the eyelids that would not go away. Nonsurgical procedures can still be used for minor improvements, but to take ten or fifteen years off your looks at once, surgery is best.
How to get yourself and your home ready
The first step in getting an eye lift is to prepare yourself and your home for several days of partial blindness. Before you go into surgery, go through your house and put everything you need on a regular basis where you can easily reach it. Do all the cleaning thoroughly enough that you won’t have to do it again for a week. Buy fresh fruits and vegetables and frozen meals, or prepare some meals and put them away for reheating. The important thing is not to have to buy groceries for a few days.
Have music or books on tape to keep you entertained. Have some dark glasses handy in case you need to go outside. If you have children or pets, get someone to look after them for a few days. Finally, choose someone to drive you home after the surgery.
The first step in the process of getting an eye lift is to talk with an expert. Dr. Sean Freeman is Charlotte’s best facial plastic surgeon. He has practiced nothing but facial plastic surgery since 1988, including procedures on the eyelids. He’s been certified by two different surgery boards, the American Board of Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He runs a state-of-the-art facility and has made a YouTube video that explains the procedure and shows several before and after photos of his eye lift patients.
