Endoscopic brow surgery in Charlotte NC

The advantages of endoscopic brow surgery
Endoscopic brow surgery is a great improvement over the way brow lifts used to be performed in Charlotte and elsewhere. In the old days, the surgeon would simply cut a slice out of the skin just below the hairline, pull it straight up, sew it back together and pronounce it good. Then, to get more natural-looking results, surgeons began studying the patterns of aging on the skin of the human face. They found that in addition to sagging downward with age, skin also migrates slightly to the center of the face, creating deep folds between the brows. So in order to make the forehead look younger, the surgeon must move the skin to each side as well as up.

The next refinement in the process is the endoscopic brow lift. Using an endoscope, a device with a tiny light and camera which can be inserted under the skin through an incision, the surgeon studies the attachments of skin and muscle to the skull. This lets him or her develop a procedure custom-made for the individual patient.

There are several different kinds of endoscopic brow surgery. A lateral brow lift is used if the skin is sagging more around the temples than in the center of the forehead. An asymmetric brow lift is used if the skin is sagging more on one side, and a full brow lift and a three-quarter brow lift are used in slightly different cases when all the skin needs to be lifted.
