Charlotte NC eyelid surgery involves different procedures for the upper and lower eyelids
Charlotte NC eyelid surgery
There are two different procedures for Charlotte NC eyelid surgery — one for the upper eyelids and one for the lower eyelids. The procedure most often called an eye lift is an upper eyelid blepharoplasty. Sometimes it’s done to correct obstructed vision, and in these cases it may be covered by Medicare or private insurance. More often it’s done for cosmetic reasons, and is accompanied by other treatments such as lower lid surgery, a brow lift, laser skin resurfacing or BOTOX.
The surgeon makes an incision along the fold of the upper eyelid and removes excess skin, fat and muscle. (Don’t worry — you’ll be under general anesthesia for this.) There will be some mild swelling afterward, and possibly some itchiness and dryness, all of which will go away in a few weeks. The bruising will go away even faster, and the stitches can be taken out in five days, assuming they haven’t already dissolved.
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty isn’t for everyone. If you suffer from blurry vision, dry eye, double vision, diabetes or thyroid problems, you shouldn’t get an eyelift. Be sure to talk with your surgeon to determine if Charlotte NC eyelid surgery is right for you.
SOOF lift blepharoplasty
Another form of Charlotte NC eyelid surgery is the SOOF lift blepharoplasty. In this procedure, the surgeon makes an incision on the inside of the lower eyelid. He or she then lifts a small deposit of fat called the suborbicularis oculi fat back into place and tightens the fascial layer in order to hold it in place.
