Everyone wants a different kind of nose job. But there are many different kinds of nose and many different reasons for wanting the nose changed. According to a Google search, there are either six, twelve, thirteen, or fourteen different kinds of nose shapes, the broadest categories being “flat,” “concave,” “convex” and “straight.” One thing scientists have learned is that people whose ancestors come from cold, dry climates tend to have noses with longer, higher and narrower nostrils than those whose ancestors come from hot, humid climates, which helps them warm and humidify the air they breathe so it doesn’t damage the delicate lung tissue. There are also some gender differences — male skin is usually more than female skin, and this has the effect of blunting the angles and making the nose less delicate in appearance. The bridge of a man’s nose is usually straighter and more prominent, and the tip is less elevated.
