Post rhinoplasty questions in Charlotte
I have post rhinoplasty questions in Charlotte. To begin with, how long does recovery last?
The recovery happens in stages. The first two to three days are the most painful. The bruises should go away after the first week or so (it’ll take longer if it’s an open rhinoplasty) but the swelling will last for several weeks.

What should I do for the first few days?
Take the antibiotics your surgeon prescribed, and the pain medication (which won’t be aspirin or ibuprofen.) Try not eat as much as you can manage, but avoid salty foods. Drink pleny of fluids and get plenty of sleep, with your head elevated to reduce swelling.

And after that?
Be very careful with your nose until it’s completely healed. Don’t wear pullover sweaters or glasses that rest on them. Take your temperature often. Keep your hands clean and limit human contact to avoid ailments that could make you sneeze. If going outside on a sunny day, put sunscreen on your nose. Otherwise, scar tissue may form and change its shape.

If you’re a smoker, don’t start smoking again until the process is complete. Go to all post-operative appointments you’ve made. Don’t do anything that might raise blood pressure in your head, such as bending over, exercising hard or lifting anything heavier than five to seven pounds.

When do I find out what my nose actually looks like?
You won’t really know until the last of the swelling has gone down.
