Blepharoplasty cost for potential Charlotte, NC patients

Blepharoplasty cost differs for every patient

Blepharoplasty cost is one of the first things patients want to know when considering having the procedure, or when planning their procedure. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, has no set cost as many factors go into determining the cost of the procedure. Patients should anticipate spending no less than a few thousand dollars on the procedure alone.

The type of blepharoplasty patients have can impact the cost of the procedure

Patients my undergo blepharoplasty to make improvements to their upper eyelids or their lower eyelids. There are many different types of techniques available for physicians to use who are performing an operation on the lower eyelids, and the type they do can impact the cost.

Additional procedures may also be recommended to be done in conjunction with blepharoplasty, and those will be an additional cost. For example, people who have their upper eyelids worked on may also have laser treatments to correct skin discoloration under the eyes.

Additional factors go into determining the cost of the procedure

Along with the surgeon’s fee and the cost of the actual procedure, patients will have other expenses factored in. The cost of the surgical room, which is usually in the doctor’s office, as well as anesthesia, staff, and more are included in the price. Patients will also need to cover the cost of medications that are given in office and prescribed following surgery. Pre and post op appointments will also be needed and have a cost. Additional expenses are also included. Your physician will be able to provide an estimate and breakdown of cost. The initial consultation is typically a separate fee that will need to be paid up front.

Insurance does not typically help cover blepharoplasty cost

Unfortunately, most insurance companies will not help cover blepharoplasty cost. If the procedure is done for cosmetic purposes, such as improving your appearance, insurance generally will not help cover surgical costs or any fees associated with complications.

Insurance may, however, cover part of the cost if the procedure is done for medical reasons. Many people have work done to their upper eyelids if their vision is impacted by their drooping down into the eyes. Patients should contact their insurance carrier prior to surgery to see if they will cover any of the cost and if there are any restrictions.
