PRESS RELEASE – Dr. Sean Freeman, a double board certified Charlotte NC surgeon at Only Faces, contributed a chapter entitled “The Mid- Face Lift (SOOF)” in the March 2016 An Analytical Approach to Facelifts and Neck Lifts as part of the Expert Techniques in Facial Plastic Surgery series.
Known as a top facial plastic surgeon in Charlotte, Dr. Sean Freeman specializes in faces and is the creator behind the SOOF Lift Blepharoplasty. In the chapter, Dr. Freeman discusses his myofacial facelift with a SOOF lift blepharoplasty as an ingenious way to create a much younger appearance with a very small and subtle alteration to the face. This procedure involves less swelling than a typical cheek lift. Recovery time is one to two weeks, and the stitches are taken out after five days. A SOOF lift blepharoplasty is distinctly different from a regular lower eyelid procedure.
In an open lower lid blepharoplasty, the surgeon makes an incision under the eyelashes of the lower lid, lifts the skin and muscle and takes the suborbicularis oculi fat out completely.
The trouble with this approach is that the missing deposit of fat makes the lower eyelid and tear trough look hollow. Sometimes it’s replaced by fat taken from a different part of the body, but if the new fat is too heavy it can cause the lower lid to pull away from the eyeball.
The SOOF lift blepharoplasty, on the other hand, is different in that the surgeon makes the initial incision on the inside of the eyelid, lifts the suborbicularis oculi fat back into place and tightens the fascial layer in order to hold it in place.
Dr. Sean Freeman has been practicing facial plastic surgery since 1988 and has often taught the SOOF Lift to other surgeons. To know more about the chapter he wrote as well as how he has helped numerous patients through his facial surgeries, visit http://www.onlyfaces.com.
