Cosmetic surgery for my job

Cosmetic surgery for my job

I’m going to get cosmetic surgery for my job
(The following is a dramatization.)
You may think that I’m being ridiculous in wanting cosmetic surgery for my job, but I’m not the only one in Charlotte NC who feels this way. According to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, about two thirds of facial plastic surgeons belonging to the Academy have seen men and women asking for cosmetic surgery as a way of remaining competitive in the workplace. These people can’t all be working for modeling agencies.

Study after study shows that when people — even smart people — aren’t making a conscious effort to be fair and avoid unconscious biases, they tend to favor those who are good-looking. Certainly I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the upper management at my own workplace judged others by their looks. I know some men who are getting hairline implants — which is odd, because I’ve also read that bald men are considered attractive. I’m thinking rhinoplasty, a small chin implant and maybe some filler injections to deal with my emerging wrinkles would suit me best, but I’m willing to listen to an expert.

Charlotte’s most experienced facial plastic surgeon
If you feel the need for cosmetic surgery to help your career, the first thing to do is to get the opinion of an expert on the subject. Be prepared for an open and honest discussion of what improvements you need to your face and how they should be made. If you do decide on surgery, both you and whoever is employing you will want it to be done by someone with a lot of experience. Sean Freeman, MD, is the most experienced facial plastic surgeon in Charlotte. He has been certified by two different surgery boards, the American Board of Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
